The field work for the beautification of Nambul river and Naga Nulla will commence with the advent of the working season, said Works minister, K Ranjit said today speaking as guest of honour in the inauguration function of a community hall at Thongju Pheijaleitong today.
The Koijam Yaima Memorial Community Hall donated by MLA Bijoy Koijam in the name of his late father was inaugurated today in a public function.
Education minister L Jayentakumar graced the function presided over by MLA Bijoy Koijam, deputy chairman of the State Planning Board.
Works minister K Ranjit who attended the function as guest of honour said that after the end of the rainy season this year, the Nambul River and Naga Nulla Beautification Project will be started.
PWD is ready to commence the work, he added.
He hinted at some problems in acquisition of land in the implementation of the project.
While implementing the project, there will be need to acquisition land on both sides of the river and nullah but authorities are ready to take up the work step by step in a fair manner.
A parking place will also be developed at Wahengbam Leikai, the minister said while highlighting various works taken up by his department.
He also announced that the road widening works on the NH-39 from Singjamei to Lilong had already started.
Compensation will paid for land affected in widening the road as per rule.
But it will take some time.
The Forest Department is also making a survey to see if any forest area is affected by the road expansion works, he added.
Ranjit also informed that the canal at Khongman will be developed as Khongman Moat.
A project proposal has been submitted to the Union ministry of Development of North East Region (DoNER) for funds.
Before approval for funding, a team of DoNER is coming to inspect the site.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Education Minister, L Jayentakumar asserted that SPF government is taking up various developmental and welfare projects in the state.
Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board, Bijoy Koijam said that many community halls have been constructed in his Assembly constituency, Thongju Kendra and that there are plans for constructions of the same at other places where needed.
