Imphal, July 15 2011:
Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL) has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to direct the State Government to implement developmental programmes in Ukhrul district under the Deputy Commissioner.
The memorandum said that no developmental work would be accepted by the people of the district until it is executed under the DC.
According to the memorandum submitted through Joint Secretary of North East In-Charge, Shatrughan Singh, the 'so-called' developmental works taken up by the State Government through Manipur District Council (MDC) under Executive Director of DRDA has been rejected by the people of the district as MDC election held last year was declared null and void by the people.
No candidate from other political parties except ruling Congress filed nomination paper in the election.
As such, all the Congress candidates were declared elected, the memorandum said and added that these MDC Members were 'chased out' from their respective areas by the people.
They are currently functioning their office from SAI hostel in Imphal thereby giving free hand in siphoning off of public welfare fund in connivance with the Executive Director of DRDA, it alleged.
