Imphal, March 14 2022:
BJP Manipur Pradesh has served a legal notice to the website ISCOM, a local news channel, for spreading misinformation of internal strife and misunderstandings among the party leaders over the election of legislative leader.
Meanwhile, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president Ch Chidananda has stated that all 32 BJP MLAs are standing strong as one.
In a video released to the press on Monday, Chidananda informed that the legal notice was sent to ISCOM for spreading fake news of crisis among the party leaders over the election of leader of the legislative wing amidst the ongoing process for formation of the new government and to clarify on the same.
Previously, a clarification was issued by the party that there was no misunderstanding or dissent within the party.
While asserting that there no misunderstanding among state president A Sharda, caretaker CM N Biren, Works minister Th Biswajit, former speaker Y Khemchand, K Govindas and union minister RK Ranjan, the vice president maintained that despite urging ISCOM to produce the source of the fake news and to tender public apology, no response has been received from the channel.
As such the party served the legal notice through BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson and High Court advocate Soubam Nongpoknganba.
Chidananda informed that the legal notice contains two points - to produce/identify the source of the news and for the channel to issue public apology for broadcasting fake news, within 10 days.
While stating that there are no "groups" or "camps" in the party, Chidananda contended that all 32 BJP MLAs are staying united in their places and will be following the decision of the
party leaders.
