300 CCTV cameras to be installed in and around Khwairamband bazar

As a part of the security arrangement made by the Home Department of the state, the installation process of around 300 Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras' in and around Khwairamband Bazaar has begun.
All required monitoring equipments and expert technicians have already reached Imphal and works are in progress.
Official sources from the Home Department revealed that in almost all congested areas of Imphal city, particularly Thangal bazaar and Paona bazaar area CCTV cameras' will be installed.
The place where these cameras' will be installed has been identified and the tower for placing the camera have also been erected.
The project for the installation of these CCTV cameras' has been assigned to Metromax Private limited, a Bangalore based company.
All the required equipments and mechanical experts from Metromax Private Limited have arrived in Imphal and initial works have started.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be around 1 crore.
The source further revealed that the control room of the CCTV camera will be located near the Imphal West Police complex.
The CCTV cameras' will be functional 24X7.Any unwanted happenings under the coverage areas of the CCTV cameras' will be immediately relayed to the control room for immediate action.
For this, special groups of security personal on bikes will be deployed.
There are also provisions for opening security booths near the CCTV camera installed area.
Above all there is also the need to give uninterrupted power supply to these areas since the CCTV cameras' will also be functional during night as well, the source added.
The officials of Metromax Private limited will train Home Department personnel for a period of six months.
During this period they will also be manning the CCTV cameras.
Later on, after the expiry of six months, the smooth functioning of the installed CCTV cameras will be the sole responsibility of the Home Department.
The source further said that after all these installations and training processes are completed, all important government offices will also be equipped with CCTV cameras' .
