NIELIT 30th foundation day observed

The 30th foundation day of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Imphal and its freshers meet were organised at the institute's campus at Akampat today.
Manipur Technical University VC, Prof L Tombi Singh, NIELIT, Imphal, Executive Director, Th Prameshwor, Manipur Institute of Technology Principal, RK Hemakumar, Manipur Science and Technology Council Director, Th Surendranath, Manipur University Mathematical Sciences Dean, Prof N Rajmuhon, Police Telecom DIG H Kulachandra, NIC Manipur SIO, Kh Rajen and Science and Technology Director, E Ibocha attended the event as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, NIELIT Additional Director as well as Senapati Extension Centre Officer i/c Y Subhaschandra informed that NIELIT was established on October 1, 1988 and in 2013, NIELIT established its Extension Centres at Churachandpur and Senapati.
Now, NIELIT has study centres at five hill districts of the State, namely Ukhrul, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal and Tamenglong, he added.
He continued that since its establishment, the institute has nurtured more than 33,000 students and around 3000 have got placement in either public or private sectors.
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching Skill India initiative in 2015, NIELIT has imparted training to hundreds of students, Subhaschandra said.
Meritorious students were felicitated and various entertainment programmes were also showcased as a part of the event.
