AR units seize brown sugar, cigs, betel nuts

Imphal, July 31 2021:
Tengnoupal Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) on Friday recovered Brown sugar estimated to worth about Rs 2.2 crore along the border line near Tengnoupal.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that during routine checking at the Tengnoupal gate, troops of Assam Rifles recovered 86 packets of Brown Sugar weighing 1.1 kg concealed in modified compartment.
The seized narcotics along with the vehicle and the drug trafficker were handed over to Tengnoupal police for further investigation.
On the other hand, Kakching Battalion Assam Rifles foiled smuggling of Win cigarettes and betel nuts in Kakching district on Saturday.
Based on intelligence inputs, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted six vehicles with 13 persons moving along with Kakching-Shalluk road.
On thorough checking of the vehicles, nearly 79 boxes of Win cigarettes and 37 bags of betel nuts were seized from the vehicles.
The cost of the contraband seized is worth about Rs 87.32 lakh, the PRO said.
