CCpur, May 31 2022:
TA & Hills minister Letpao Haokip has informed that the state cabinet had approved holding the election to Autonomous District Council (ADC) in the months of September and October this year but exact date cannot be fixed as of now.
Regarding the ADC Bill, the minister said that the proposed legislation has been sent to law department and it will be referred to the Governor followed by discussion before holding the election.
Talking to TPC on the sidelines of live interaction programme between the PM and the scheme beneficiaries at YPA hall on Tuesday, Letpao Haokip opined that it is too early to comment on devolution of power to ADC as the Bill needs to become a law first.
However, ADC could be given power in education sector (class VI to X), health sector (PHSC to CHC) and AE to EE in works department, he said.
On the issue of reserved forest, Letpao Haokip pointed out that law is there and according to 2006 Gazette of Government of India Forest Act, people who reside in reserved forest area before 2005 will be allowed to settle but after that they will not be allowed.
He urged public to bear with the government while maintaining that the government exists for the people.
