Workshop on forest fire management

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of Forest Force, Manipur organised a one day State level workshop on forest fire management at Tribal Research Institute (TRI) today.
Speaking at the event, PCCF & HoFF, Manipur, Kereilhouvi Angami said that dialogue and regional discussion are very much important when it comes to ensuring proper implementation of fire management system in the villages.
Kereilhouvi explained that nowadays, shifting cultivation has given way to ganja and poppy cultivation and even if law enforcing authorities carry out destruction drives, the cultivators are shifting these crops to remote areas of the State, particularly the hills and other virgin forest area.
This is an alarming situation, Kereilhouvi added mentioning that it is the duty of all to be responsible for the good of the society.
Additional PCCF OSD Forest and Environment Manipur, L Baite and Additional PCCF/WPR&T Manipur, Dr L Puni were also present at the event.
