Series of blasts rock State on R-Day

Imphal, January 27 2015:
A series of IED blasts rocked the four valley districts despite tight security measures taken up in view of Republic Day celebration yesterday.
Two blasts each occurred in Imphal West and Imphal East districts while one blast each went off in Thoubal and Bishnupur.
Although, impact of these blasts created huge craters at blast sites, nobody was injured in these incidents as none of the IEDs were fitted with splinters, sources said.
The first blast was triggered at around 7.30 am at the eastern side of Hicham Yaichampat (Moirangkhom) on Imphal river bank, just around 300 metres away from 1st Bn Manipur Rifles ground, from where the march past of the State level Republic Day celebration began.
Just a few minutes after the blast, another IED exploded on the western bank of Khuyathong Pukhri Achouba.
Both the places fall under the jurisdiction of lmphal police station.
At around 8.30 am again, two IEDs were triggered one after another on the bank of lmphal river at Hatta Golapati and KR Lane in Imphal East district under Porompat police station.
Police rushed to these places and detained 14 persons from Hatta Golapati at Porompat police station for further questioning.
Later at around 9 am another blast occurred at a paddy field at Wangjing Purana Heitupokpi Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district.
A team of district police rushed to the spot and inspected the area.
The last blast took place on a road side at Leimaram junction in Bishnupur district at around 9.30 am.
