Power supply position in Manipur is not upto the satisfactory level for the last around two decades.
Almost the whole of the state, except for some areas in the capital where VIPs colonies are located, are reeling under complete darkness everyday.
Consumers enjoy hardly three hour power supply in a day.
The demand of power in the state has always outstripped the supply.
The power situation in the state is worsening with shortfall in rainfall in the last rainy season which caused a marked reduction in the power generation at Loktak Hydro Electricity Project, the only main source of power of the state.
