Memos to Union minister seek service security, better condition

All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC), Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Manipur State and MSPDCL Engaged Employees' Union (MSPDCLEEU) on Sunday submitted memorandum to Union labour and employment minister Bhupendra Yadav during the launch programme of e-SHRAM Portal and e-SHRAM card held at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong.
In a release, AMUTUC unorganised worker in-charge Ch Gyanen Singh stated that the memorandum mainly highlighted the demand for upgradation of Special State Office Employees Provident Fund Organisation of the state to Regional Office; formation of Manipur State Unorganised Workers Welfare Board, State Safai Karamchari Commission along with State and Private Transport Workers Welfare Board; establishment of Union Ministry of Labour office in the state to solve labour disputes involving central sphere; implementation of Labour Code 2020; one time regularisation of work charged, MR and casual employees of PWD, PHED, WRD and MID; filling of vacant posts of labour officer in state labour department and a converging a meeting of Wage Board to hike the wages of labourers which have remained stagnant for long time.
The memorandum was submitted to the minister by AMTUC president T Tikendrajit Singh while attending the launch function of e-SHRAM Portal held at Hotel Classic Grande, it added.
AMTUC further informed that e-SHRAM card provided to workers in unorganised sector can be made at AMTUC office, Lamphel Sana Keithel by paying processing fee of Rs 20 and submitting documents for blood group, house number, Aadhaar Card and mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
In another release, BMS Manipur State assistant secretary Sapam Meiraba Meitei informed that it members and secretaries of affiliated unions attended the launch function on Sunday and submitted a memorandum to Union minister Bhupendra Yadav raising demand for EPF facility to employees who are members of MSPDCLEEU and Non-Teaching Employees' Welfare Union (RIMS) as well as opening of EPF branch office in Imphal.
BMS also appealed to the authority concerned to raise awareness about benefits of e-SHRAM card to people who have been issued the card along with asking CSCs of the state to not to take any extra charge for making the card, it added.
Similarly, MSPDCLEEU vice president N Opendro Singh said that the Union members submitted a memorandum to the Union minister demanding regularisation of junior technical assistant, computer operator, MRCBD, etc, who have been working as contract employees in MSPDCL.
The memo also asked for VDA and immediate sitting of State Wage Board for hiking the wages of the employees, it added.
