Imphal, September 19 2016:
Joint Students' Co-ordination Committee (JSCC) has said that they will oppose any move to follow State norms in the reservation of admission to different courses in Manipur University.
In a statement, the committee said that the VC-in-charge and varsity authority must declare the list of students eligible for admission to different courses as per the Central Educational Institution (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Act 2012 at the earliest.
The committee further said that it was resolved in the last meeting held on September 3 that a directive would be sought from UGC regarding admission reservation by September 15 .
However, the resolution was found rectified by the VC-in-charge and his team.
The Committee said that as per the rectified resolution the MU authority would comply with the earlier norm of admission (the norm adopted in 2015-16 academic session) if the MU authority could not seek UGC's recommendation by September 15, the committee alleged.
Strongly opposing the rectification, JSCC demanded resignation of the VC-in-charge on the issue.
The committee also questioned whether the Academic Council of the varsity had been replaced by the HODs and Deans.
