NPF Manipur welcomes Naga Accord

Naga Peoples Front (NPF), Manipur Unit President Awangbou Newmai on Wednesday welcomed the recent Peace Accord signed between the Government of India and National Socialist Council of Nagalim or the NSCN (IM).
He said the accord will immensely benefit not only to one community but to all the communities in the Naga areas.
Awangbou Newmai was speaking at a thanksgiving programme in connection with the Naga Peace Accord organised by Eastern Liangmai, Manipur at Makhen on Wednesday.
The NPF Manipur Unit president also lauded the Government of India and NSCN (IM) leaders for signing the pact in an effort the end the protracted Naga issue.
Awangbou said "Peace is for all, for all community, so peace accord should be welcomed by all" .
"The Liangmai people welcome the Naga Peace Accord and promised to support till the accord is fully implemented" he said.
Awangbou alleged that some people and leaders were misleading others on the peace accord and were trying to create communal tension.
He appealed all not to create communal tension by "misleading" the people.
The NPF Manipur Unit President alleged that the State Government is not respecting the small communities.
He also pointed out that even after two months of the declaration of ADC election results, the State Government failed to form Councils in Chandel and Tamenglong Districts.
"It is the time to know our rights given by the Indian Constitution to uplift the tribals under Article 371 (C) but still the Government refused to implement the act in the state", he rued.
Liangmai Naga Council, Senapati Zone Secretary M Panamthinang was the moderator in the programme while Insak Baptish Church Pastor Kaidet invoked God's blessings.
A silent prayer was also held for Naga martyrs by ML Kainamrangbou, Pastor of Puilong Baptist Church.
LNC President R Machundoubou; Eastern Liangmai President R Winilungbou; Social Worker MI John; Villages Chiefs; intellectuals; women leaders and students also attended the programme.
