Tongbram Mahesh bags top prize in Lions International Peace Poster Contest

Master Tongbram Mahesh of Moirang in Bishnupur district, who was sponsored by Lions Club of Moirang, has won the Lions International Peace Poster Contest, 2013-14 .
The grand prize of the Lions Peace Poster Contest 2013-14 held on the theme 'Our World Our Future' was presented to T Mahesh, a Class VII student of Little Bird School, Moirang during the Lions Annual Convention held in Toronto, Canada recently.
Remarkably, India has so far won the Grand Prize twice in the last 26 years of the history of lions peace poster contest and the winners are Manipuri boys.
The same feat was achieved by Raj Phairembam in 2011-12 and he too was sponsored by Lions Club of Moirang.

Tongbram Mahesh was felicitated by Lions Club International District 322D during a simple function at the Press Club here on Saturday.
The Grand Prize winner T Mahesh was invited along with his mother to attend the 97th Lions International Convention held at Toronto, Canada from July 4-8 this year and received the prize from International President, Lion Barry Palmer.
The award carries USD 5,000 and a memento.
Mahesh said he started the art of painting since early childhood and his late father T Herojit liked him to become a painter.
He is now studying in class VII in Little Bird School, Moirang.
Herojit said he had participated several state and district level painting competitions and won many prizes before he bagged the international prize.
However, he said one of his school teachers named Yumkhaibam Premjit helped and guided him in participating in the competitions.
Mahesh also said the same teacher guided Raj Phairembam in winning the Grand Prize.
The Lions International Peace Poster Contest, 2013-14 was held on the theme "Our World Our Future" .
The picture painted by Mahesh in the international competition was titled "Our World Peace Conceives Today, Germinates Tomorrow" .
Speaking on the occasion, , Y Modhu Singh, associate PRO, District 322D informed that Lions District Cabinet for lionistic year, 2014-15 headed by Lion H Manikumar Singh, the district governor, will be installed as per lionistic traditions at Hotel Imphal tomorrow.
