Imphal, March 17 2012:
Most of the tiles laid on the southern footpath of RIMS road have been removed by the local people protesting that the tiles were not fixed properly.
As a part of the ongoing work of laying tiles on footpaths of Imphal city, tiles were fixed for a length of about 60 metres on the southern side of RIMS road this morning.
However, as the tiles were not fixed properly, many tiles were found detached from the floor of the footpath, said some locals.
Peeved with such manner of laying tiles, locals removed all the tiles laid today.
Notably, RIMS road despite its importance, has been lying in shambles since 2009 on account of digging up road for the Sewerage Project.
Local people maintained they would not allow to continue with the tile fixing work if due emphasis is not given on its qualitative aspect.
It is said that tile laying work is being done under Planning and Development Authority (PDA) .
