ECI to discuss paid news and other poll issues

Imphal, October 16 2011:
Representatives of all the National and State level political parties in the five Assembly election-bound States including Manipur would meet at New Delhi tomorrow to discuss various issues including election expenditure, paid news, security arrangement, mode of election campaign, etc.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is organizing a day-long workshop in this regard tomorrow at IIDEM, Election Commission Building, Ashoka Road, New Delhi.
The election to the State Assemblies of Manipur, Goa, Punjab, Uttaranchal and Uttar Pradesh are expected to be held sometime in February next year.
Representatives of the National as well as regional political parties in these five election-bound would be participating in the workshop.
Apart from discussion matters related to monitoring the election expenditure, paid news, security arrangement, mode of election campaign, etc, the workshop aims to evolve mechanism to curb use of muscle and money power in the election.
At the invitation of ECI, ex-MLA Dr M Nara and MLA N Mangi of CPI, Manipur State Committee, who are currently at New Delhi, would be participating in the workshop while Kshetrimayum Santa left Imphal for New Delhi today to participate in the same workshop as representative of CPI (M) .
