JMG-UPF talks resume:: UPF urges regular payment of stipend

Representatives of Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) and United People's Front (UPF), an umbrella body of several Manipur-based Kuki militant outfits resumed their meeting on Monday.
The JMG meeting held at Banquet Hall, 1st Manipur Rifles in Imphal was participated by Principal Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur, Suresh Babu, Joint Secretary (Home) Chourashia, JMG Chairman and Additional Deputy Director General of Police (ADGP) LM Khaute, Superintendent of Police (CID), and top official of Assam Rifles, BSF and Army on the Government side.
For UPF, it was represented by leaders of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF), Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), Kuki National Front-P and Hmar People's Convention-Democratic (HPC-D) .
In the meeting, the UPF side urged the JMG side for regular payment of stipend (Rs 3000 for each cadre) to the militants belonging to the umbrella organization, a highly placed official source said.
It also pushed for additional fund to complete the under construction designated camp of ZRA at Phaibatang in Churachandpur district while urging for convening the JMG meeting on monthly basis.
The JMG side assured the UPF leaders that the demands raised by them during the meeting would be met soon.
It also informed the insurgent leaders to submit an upto-date list of its cadres to the committee soon and to start re-verification of the cadres.
