IGAR (S) flags off National integration tour

In the ongoing attempt to bridge the gap between Manipur and main stream India, a National Integration Tour is being organised by 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR(S) from 15 Oct to 01 Nov 2012 .
A total of 20 school children from Moreh town will visit New Delhi, under the scheme.
The National Integration Tour was flagged off from Mantripukhri by Maj Gen U K Gurung, YSM, IGAR(S) today.
This educational tour is yet another effort by the Assam Rifles to strengthen its bond of friendship and trust with the people of Manipur.
Moreh, a multiethnic town in South Manipur is a testimony to the rich cultural diversity of India.
The small border town is a truly cosmopolitan edifice highlighting the 'Unity in Diversity' concept with Meiteis, Kukis, Nagas, Myanmarese, Tamilians, Marwaris, Sikhs, Biharis staying as a close unit & homogenous society which is admirable and appreciable.
It stands tall and steadfast as 'Mini India' .
Twenty young minds from this border town who are proceeding on the educational tour are bestowed with a unique opportunity to gain first hand insight into the hinterland, showcasing its development and advancements which will help the impressionable minds realise their future dreams.
