CM, others extend Diwali greetings

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Home Minister and MPCC President Gaikhangam, Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya, MLA Th Shyamkumar and others have greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali festival which is being celebrated tomorrow.
In his message, Ibobi said "Diwali, the festival of light commemorates Lord Rama's return to his kingdom Ayodhya after completing his 14 years of exile.
The festival signifies the victory of good over evil.
People celebrate the festival by illuminating their homes to dispel darkness to evoke the blessing of goddess Lakshmi" .
"Let us imbibe the ideals associated with this festival to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in our lives.
May the festival usher in peace, prosperity and happiness in our lives," he added.
Greeting the people, Gaikhangam called upon the shun violence and spread the message of love and unity while celebrating the festival which symbolizes triumph of good over evil.
Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya also wished the imbibing the spirit of tolerance and understanding among the people on the occasion of celebrating Diwali.
MLA Th Shyamkumar wished all the people of the state a "happy and grand Diwali and Ningol Chakouba festival" and prayed to the almighty for peace and prosperity among all the communities in the State.
IGAR (S) Major General UK Guring and all ranks of Assam Rifles have also greeted the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Diwali.
