Imphal, October 12 2011:
The Nagas living in the North Eastern part of India has been suffering for the last 60 years with hardly any improvement in their economic condition as well as with all the development programmes in a defunct state.
Speaking at the One day NPF Interface with Leaders of Senapati District held at Indoor Stadium, Senapati headquarters, today, NPF Manipur State Unit president, G Gaingam said that the condition of the Nagas could be improved if a platform of the Nagas is formed and all the Nagas come together and work as one force.
He further went on to say that all the Nagas should abandon their political parties and join NPF because it has an agenda for the Naga people.
The Nagas have been suffering for more than 60 years and now, the time has come to launch movement for the truth.
Speaking on the occasion, Z Lohe, Political Advisor to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that NPF will fight the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections in all the 11 Naga dominated assembly constituencies in Manipur.
It is the last opportunity to have a common platform for the Nagas to contest in the upcoming elections which is expected to be held sometime in February next year.
He further went on to say that some sections of people are against the decision of the party to fight in the forthcoming election, but the party is of the firm belief that until and unless there is no leader in the Assembly, the Nagas will not be able to understand their rights in politics.
As such, the NPF Manipur Unit has decided to field candidates in the 11 Naga majority assembly constituencies.
NPF was launched in Manipur with an aim to establish a peaceful co-existence in the state and it is not an anti-Naga or an anti-non-Naga party, he added.
NPF leaders from Nagaland, various village and church leaders were also attended the programme organized by NPF Senapati district division.
