Assam Rifles organises community service, security meet

In view of the forthcoming Independence Day, Units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised events in various parts of Imphal valley today with an aim to interact with the local populace as well as sensitise them in regards to existing security situation in the area, said PRO IGAR(South).
A 'Community Service cum Awareness Drive' was organised by YKPI Company Operating Base (COB) of Mantripukhri Battalion at Baptist Church in Laikot Phaizol.
The event commenced with offering of prayers at the Church.
It was followed by an interaction with the villagers during which they willingly shared their various issues of concern with the troops of the battalion, said AR.
As part of the awareness drive, an interactive programme was organised by the COB on 'career counselling and emphasis on role of locals during internal security situation and active hostilities'.
During the drive the attendees were enlightened about diverse career options available for the youth of the State and how they can further guide their wards in choosing the right career option.
They were also informed about the various opportunities available for the youth to join the Indian Armed Forces including the upcoming Army Recruitment Rally scheduled to be held at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium in Imphal from 10 to 18 Oct 2019 for which the registrations have already commenced from 11 August.
All the queries of the attendees were clarified in detail during the interactive session, added AR.
Meanwhile, Keithelmanbi Battalion organised an interactive security meet at Canchipur COB.
During the meet, various security aspects and necessary measures to be undertaken by locals in synergy with Assam Rifles as well as the requirement of keeping a strict vigil in the area in view of upcoming Independence Day were stressed upon.
In addition to the security agenda, discussion on future action plan in respect of civic action projects as well as upcoming army recruitment rally was carried out.
The security forum was attended by the ward Councillors, Pradhans, youth club members, representative of police and locals of the area, conveyed AR.
