Agriculture Minister inaugurates seed processing unit, KVK office

Agriculture, Veterinary and AnimalHusbandryMinisterV Hangkhanlian inaugurated a Seed Processing Unit and Office Building of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Thoubal under the Seed Hub Project, National Food Security Mission, Government of India at Thoubal Khangabok today.
Speaking as chief guest at the function, V Hangkhanlian said that the newly inaugurated Seed Hub and KVK office, Thoubal will prove beneficial and will serve the farmer community of the State.
Frequent floods and decreasing agricultural land due to expansion of human settlements have declined the agricultural produces, he said.
Emphasising on the schemes and projects, he said that the Central Government and the State Government have started policies to double the products of farmers by 2022.He sought the cooperation of the farmers and appealed them to apply new methods and technologies for increasing their produces and enhancing food security.
Booklet for added products and development like ginger, capsicum and carambola were also released during the function.
Additional Chief Secretary (Agri) Government of Manipur Letkhogin Haokip, IAS, Director, ICAR-ATARI-Zone VII, Umiam Barapani, Meghalaya Bidyut C Deka and Director of Agriculture, Manipur Ph Rajendra Singh attended the programme as president and guests of honour respectively and encouraged the farmers and highlighted the activities of KVK.
The inaugural programme was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Thoubal, Department of Agriculture, Manipur.
KVK staff from Thoubal, farmers and other dignitaries also attended the event.
