Ukhrul, April 09 2015 :
India's largest private sector enterprise Reliance Group for the first time launched its mobile network in Ukhrul in a function on Thursday at its district distributor's office at Viewland, Ukhrul.
The launching function was graced by Ukhrul SDO, Worshang Hungyo as Chief Guest in the presence of Reliance Mobile Network Manipur Chief Karan Singh.
Speaking at the function, Hungyo expressed the hope that the new network will be of immense service to the denizens of the district.
While lauding the company for bringing in the new mobile service, he also asked the service provider to expand the same to interior parts of the district.
During the function which was attended by a large number of top-up card retailers and members of the public, Singh assured the crowd that Reliance would shortly roll out its 4G service in Ukhrul as elsewhere.
"For the time being only 2G service is available on tower infrastructure sharing basis with another network AirCell in Ukhrul but we will soon procure 800 Megahertz spectrum to introduce 4G here," he said.
Further, asserting that Reliance would focus on quality data service, he said that this would be to compete with other mobile service providers in the district.
Meanwhile, Ukhrul district chief distributor Antipus Hongchui informed that Reliance top-up cards would be available at comparatively cheapest tariffs.
Currently, AirCell with which Reliance has tower sharing pact, has three towers within Ukhrul town and three other at Litan, Zalembung and Lambui in the district.
