Imphal, December 08 2020:
The All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation has threatened intense agitation if their demand for extension of 4% OBC reservation in admission to nonprofessional courses is not discussed in the Cabinet meeting tomorrow.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, AMMSO president Pusham Javed Ahmed said the organisation and the PSU-DMU have been demanding 4% reservation for Pangal students in admission to nonprofessional courses since October 29.The bodies had called 48 hours general strike earlier and the Chief Minister had invited them for talks.
The bodies met the CM but couldn't come to an agreement.
Further the second round of talk scheduled for November 9 was postponed by the Government without informing the bodies, he said.
The demand was discussed in the November 10 Cabinet meeting, however no further positive steps are taken yet.
The matter should be again produced in the Cabinet meeting tomorrow for a final decision.
The bodies along with people would be forced to launch intense agitation if the matter/demand is not discussed tomorrow, he said.
