Kangpokpi, February 07 2019:
The Kuki Inpi Manipur submitted another memorandum to the Prime Minister of India on February 5 reminding him to first settle NSCN (I-M) heinous criminal acts before inking any final deal with the outfit.
The lengthy memorandum signed by the KIM president, Lunpi S Thangjom stated that if the Government inks a final deal with the NSCN (IM) without first settling the genocide unleashed by the outfit against the Kuki people, then the solution will become the seed for an immediate civil war.
KIM reminded the Government of India that the NSCN-IM killed 905 Kuki innocent citizens including children, pregnant mothers, aged and invalid, uprooted 360 Kuki villages and seized their ancestral land and displaced over 100,000 Kuki people rendering them homeless.
The criminal acts grossly violated International law, Kuki Inpi law and the Law of India, said KIM and added that the Government of India has full responsibility to settle the matter in the proper Court of Law for peace.
Over 60 memoranda have been submitted by the Kuki Inpi (Kuki Govt) to first settle NSCN (I-M) heinous criminal acts to the five outgoing Prime Ministers including (L) Narasimhao Rao, Deve Gowda, IK Gujral, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Manmohan Singh and now the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it said.
The Kuki Inpi defended "Kuki Country" or "Independent Hill Country" against the invading British in the West, it said and added that this particular country was neither included in India or Burma Governments, but remained as a sovereign country.
The merger agreement signed in 1949 between India on one side, Manipur and Tripura kings of valley on the other did not include "Kuki country" or "Independent Hill country", the memorandum claimed.
"Any solution made without settlement of Kuki problem first will sow seeds of social chaos in the "Independent Hill Country," and will cause extensive social and political upheaval in the region while inviting an immediate civil war", it asserted.
While drawing the attention of the Prime Minister, KIM said that any kind of solution with NSCN (I-M) without the participation of the Kuki Inpi, plus all other indigenous peoples, will not be acceptable.
