Further judicial remand for uncle killer

Police have claimed that Khulem Jiten allegedly murdered his uncle Khulem Tomba for not allowing him to enter or live at his residence at Naoremthong Khulem Leikai after the 2015 incident when he killed another one of his uncles and injured another, before the Court today.
From the early morning, family members of the deceased and locals of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai gathered at Cheirap Court complex after getting information that the accused would be produced before the Court by Lamphel PS today.
Taking the situation into consideration extra security police personnel, including a team of women police personnel of Imphal West women PS, were deployed in the area.
Soon after the accused was brought to Cheirap court complex by a team of Lamphel PS, the angry mob tried to forcefully go inside the Court complex but were prevented from doing so by the police.
During the hearing, the IO of the case, through the APP of the State, prayed for remanding Khulem Jiten (41) s/o Kh Kendrajit of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai (presently staying at Top Khonangkhong near Mayanglambam Leikai) to judicial custody till August 20 .
It was submitted that Kh Jiten has been in police custody for 10 days (from July 28) .
Khulem Tomba, aged about 52 years, was shot dead at Meitei Langol Punshi Leikai on July 28, at around 2.40 pm.
During the inquest of the dead body and while inspecting the crime scene, four empty cartridges and two deformed projectiles were recovered and a number of witnesses were examined as well.
On the same day, the accused Khulem Jiten was arrested from JNIMS and from his discloser, two pistols used in the crime (which he had handed over to one workshop owner Chesam Abdul Salam) were also recovered by the police team.
The IO further submitted that after examining and recording the statement of a number of witaesses, it came to light that the accused came on a two wheeler and entered the farm house belonging to Khulem Tomba and entered the house from the back door of the kitchen, located on the western side of the farm house.
After reaching the bedroom where Khulem Tomba was taking rest, Kh Jiten shot dead Khulem Tomba with his unauthorized pistol and after commission of the crime Jiten took the licensed gun of the deceased and fled from the spot on his two wheeler.
After reaching the workshop of Chesam Abdul Salam at Porompat Thawan Thaba Leikai, Jiten along with Abdul, concealed the weapons in the workshop after which Jiten admitted himself to the casualty ward of JNIMS.
During interrogation Jiten disclosed that he had been planning to take revenge on (L) Kh Tomba Singh for not allowing him to enter and live at his residence at Naoremthong Khulem Leikai after he (Jiten) killed one of his uncles and injured another in the year 2015 .
It was also submitted that Jiten in presently facing a trial before the Session Court Imphal West Court in connection with the 2015 case and an arrest warrant has also been issued by the Court for execution on August 8.The investigation revealed that there is prima facie evidence against Kh Jiten and the workshop owner Chesam Abdul Salam respectively, the IO added.
IO further submitted that Chesam Abdul Salam is presently in judicial custody in connection with the case as well.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the IO, remanded the accused to judicial custody remand till August 20 .
