Huge turnout at Kpi vaccination site

Kangpokpi, July 06 2021:
Despite the inclement weather condition, many people turned out to get COVID-19 vaccine during a mass vaccination programme conducted on Tuesday at 9 Miles Poudel Basti in Kangpokpi district.
The mass vaccination drive initiated by local MLA Nem-cha Kipgen was organised by COVID Task Force, Irang area in collaboration with medical department.
BJP Manipur state general secretary (organisation) Abhay Kumar Giri joined the local MLA in visiting the mass vaccination centre at Poudel Basti while various other BJP leaders, former ADC Sadar Hills members from Irang area, Central COVID Task Force also inspected the vaccination drive.
Altogether 262 people were vaccinated with Covishield during the mass vaccination drive.
Apart from the vaccination drive, BJP leaders and workers commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee by planting saplings in the surrounding area of the vaccination site.
MLA Nemcha Kipgen also distributed essential items including rice and dal to hundreds of non-ration card holders of Irang area.
COVID awareness programme was also conducted near the vaccination site.
Abhay Kumar Giri said that the party decided to plant around 60,000 saplings in connection with the observation of Dr Mukherjee's death anniversary in the state.
He said that BJP workers came forward to help others risking their own lives during the pandemic.
He appealed to people to get COVID-19 vaccine to avoid pains and suffering of the viral infection.
COVID-19 vaccine is not free but a gift given to the people of the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.
