Sit-in-protest held in Kangpokpi to condemn Government Bills

A sit-in-protest against the three bills passed in the state assembly, which the tribals think dangerous to their rights, was held on Friday at Kangpokpi bazaar in Senapati district.
The protest was organised by civil society organizations of Sadar Hills to protest against the alleged "Anti-Tribal" Bills passed in the state assembly on August 31 .
Various communities within Kangpokpi and its adjoining areas took part in the sit-in-protest where they held placards which read, "We reject PMP Bill 2015 and MLR&LR Act (7th Amendment) Bill, 2015", "O Ibobi Govt is Anti-Tribal", "We are against the use of live bullets", "Separate administration for tribals", "We demand resignation of all tribal ministers, MLAs", "Dismissal of O Ibobi's Government", "Imposition of President Rule", "Revoke the three bills" and "We support 48 hr bandh called by UNC" .

Meanwhile, black flags were flown by protesters in the vicinity of the town to show their sorrowfulness over the killing of tribal youths in Churachandpur district by state security force.
Speaking to media persons, Lamcha Chongloi, spokesperson of CSOs Sadar Hills said, "The tribals are being massacred by state force and we are being systematically targeted.
Our rights are being violated and we do not feel safe under O Ibobi's rule" .
The demonstration was organized to show stiff opposition against the three bills passed in the state assembly, which are totally against the rights of the tribals, added Lamcha Chongloi. He continued that the state government should revoke the bills at the earliest as desired by the tribal populace.
He further said, "The atrocities of the state security force meted out against the people in Churachandpur are condemned in the strongest terms by the Sadar Hills CSOs and we salute the sacrifice made by the tribal youths for the cause of the tribal populace and we convey our deepest condolence to the bereaved families" .
