Though the installation of GPS was yet to begin, the Government is likely to procure all the GPS and other materials soon, said a reliable source.
Though the Government had approved the plan for the four valley districts, the plan will be implemented only in Imphal East and Imphal West District in the first place.
The movements of the GPS installed police commando vehicles will be monitored from the control room which is under construction above the Imphal West District SP Office.
Installation of the GPS in the vehicles and installation of machines in the control room will is likely to begin in the next few days.
The source further stated that the installation of GPS on commando vehicles was aimed to enhancing vigilance while the forces improve the State's law and order situation.
The new system will be able to track down any police vehicles nearby any spot them as and when incidents occur.
