MASLSA conducts commendation ceremony

Manipur State Legal Services Authority organized a commendation ceremony of best Para Legal Volunteer (PLV), best Panel Lawyer, best District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for 2020 on Saturday at the conference hall of ADR Centre, Lamphelpat.
The event was aimed at felicitating the best District Legal Services Authority, Panel Lawyer and Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) in the State for their service and contribution to the cause of 'Access to Justice' and in recognition of their activities during the COVID pandemic and lockdown period Justice Kh Nobin Singh, Executive Chairman of Manipur State Legal Services Authority; Golmei Gaiphulshillu, Member Secretary, MASLSA & Ojesh Mutum Addl Sessions Judge, Fast Track Court, Crime Against Women, Manipur presided the ceremony as presidium members.
Chairperson and Secretaries of District Legal Services Authorities, Panel Lawyers, PLVs & staff of Legal Services Authorities also participated in the function.
The award for best District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for the year was awarded to Churachandpur District Legal Services Authority with certificate and memento.
The prize for second best DLSA was awarded to Senapati DLSA for the commendable legal services activities during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The award for best Para Legal Volunteer was given to Mohammed Islahuddin, PLV of Legal Aid Clinic, Kwakta, Bishnupur; Second best PLV was awarded to Golmei Pouhoilung, PLV of Legal Aid Clinic, Noney & the award for third best PLV was given jointly to Maibam Purnimashi Devi, PLV of Legal Aid Clinic, Manipur State Commission for Women and Konthoujam Tendenba, PLV of Legal Aid Clinic, Andro.
The award for best Panel Lawyer was given to Khoisanam Lembisana Meidingu, Panel Lawyer of Thoubal DLSA.
The award for second best Panel Lawyer was given to L Pinky Devi, Panel Lawyer of Imphal West DLSA and third-best Panel Lawyer was awarded to Ningnim YL, Panel Lawyer of Ukhrul DLSA.
Further, Special Mention was made to Chandel DLSA & Legal Aid Clinics of Jiribam.
At the ceremony, Justice Kh Nobin Singh, Executive Chairman, MASLSA appreciated the work done by PLVs and Panel Lawyers in translating into action the policies and programmes of NALSA.
He also highlighted the key roles and responsibilities of the PLVs in providing legal aid and assistance to the vulnerable and marginalized people and those living under Below Poverty Line.
