Paban's Nongmei selected for Rotterdam Film Festival

Two film scripts from North East were among the country's four-- selected for their presentations in the forthcoming the Cinemart in the 41st edition of Rotterdam Film Festival, Netherlands to be held early next year.
This year's Rotterdam Film Festival is scheduled to be held in Netherlands from 25 January to 5 February next year.
The film scripts selected from north east include Manipur's young filmmaker Haobam Pabankumar's 'Nongmei' (The Gun) and Assam's Khanjan Kishor Nath's 'The Bicycle'.
Two other film scripts are Manjeet Singh's Mumbai Cha Raja and Satish Manwar's 'What's Your Religion?' .
The scripts of these four films were selected in a film bazaar of the ongoing sixteen days 42nd International Film Festival of India which is scheduled to conclude in Goa on December 3 .
"I'm really happy on the selection of my film script as I hope it would certainly give us an opportunity to explore the world wide film distribution system," said, Manipur's young film maker Haobam Pabankumar who has won many national and international awards when contacted on phone on Tuesday.
Paban who is presently camping in Mumbai for other film related activity, also expressed the need to do thorough homework while preparing of making a film for the international audience in this era of information and technology.
Pabankumar's 'Nongmei' (The Gun) film script was based on a short story by writer Sudhir Naoroibam.
Besides feature film 'Phijigee Mani' (Manipuri) directed by Gautam Singh, two other non-feature Manipur films 'Noong Amadi Yeroom' (Stone and Egg) directed by Romi Meitei and 'Songs of Mashangva' directed by Oinam Doren were also screened in the IFFI's Indian Panorama section.
This year Manipur had a record number of participants in the festival with a total of around 35 film technicians and buffs attending the festival.
