Imphal, May 27 2020:
The Human Rights Council Manipur has strongly condemned "insulting" comments floating on social media platforms like Facebook regarding the ongoing case against alleged drug kingpin Lhukhosei Zou, former ADC Chandel Chairman.
Stating "everybody is bound by the rule of law and more particularly public officers/servants cannot go beyond the bounds of law,' HRCM said every citizen of the country has right to speech and expression given by the Constitution of India, but certain limitations are also there in the Constitution.
"Judiciary is an independent institution and cannot be interfered by the legislatures or executives.
Any order or ruling passed by the Court of law cannot be justified by the public on social media or any other platform, except approach higher Court.
Stating those concerned should approach the Court through proper channel, HRCM lamented that there has been many unwanted Facebook posts after Lhukhosei Zou was granted bail for three weeks on medical ground.
HRCM lamented that many individuals without proper knowledge of the law and what had happened inside the Court room are commenting criticising the Court.
Expressing apprehension that the incident may trigger communal conflict, HRCM appealed all to approach the right medium for their appeals and grievances.
HRCM also appealed police officers, IOs and law enforcement agencies to file charge-sheets in time in all cases.
