Imphal, May 27 2015 :
Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) will demand CBI investigation into the construction works of school buildings in Manipur taken up under SSA and RMSA, says Moirangthem Angamba president of the students' union.
In a press meet held at the head office of DESAM, Keishampat Junction Angamba informed that controversy has erupted in construction works of 1 room extension for 14 schools in Jiribam under SSA.
For the same reason ZEO Jiribam had written a formal letter to the manager of UBI Jiribam for temporary freezing of transaction for all accounts of the 14 schools.
It was also informed that the first phase construction was completed and foundations were laid as the work started since September 2014 last by the school management committee.
The amount for one room extension sums up to Rupees 8 lakhs 64 thousand out of which the first installments were released.
However a second party approached demanding for continuing the construction works.
The school authority wanted to know the details from the second party who explained that the remaining construction works will be completed with MLA's local area development fund.
Later the second party came with a blank cheque and the school authority was asked to sign for the second installment from the SSA fund for one room extension.
The teachers of the school are facing pressure and within a short span of time three headmasters were transferred.
The headmasters were serving at Latingkhal High School, Sonapur Primary School and Islamabad Lower Primary School.
DESAM appealed to the State government to immediately stop transferring teachers and to probe into the matter in the 14 schools.
The student union also opined that many problems are arising since the assembly level monitoring and supervision committee chaired by local MLA with Zonal Education Officer as convener was formed.
Question arises whether to keep the committee functioning, said Angamba president of DESAM.
The students' body also sought the attention of the investigating agency CBI to probe into the matter.
Representatives of the 14 schools were also present during the press meet at DESAM Office, Keishampat Junction.
