State lad receives offer from World's top business schools

A young Manipuri student has made the region proud by earning a number of offers from various reputed and top ranking business schools of the World.
17-year old Nehal Khongbantabam of Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai and Uripok Khwai Brahmapur who passed IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma from The International School Bangalore (TISB) with 39 points out of 45, while the world average being around 30 points, is all set to pursue Management at the University of Warwick (UK), a 5th rank business school across the 150 countries.
Son of the state's noted Neurosurgeon Dr Vyas Khongbantabam and Dr Supriya Laifangbam, Assistant Professor of Microbiology Department at JNIMS, Nehal had been in TISB from 5th grade and completed his International General Certificate of Secondary Education(IGCSE) with 6 A* and 3 A .
The IGCSE which is equivalent to the 9th and 10th standards, and IB which corresponds to the 11th and 12th standards are two of the World's most academically rigorous, internationally recognized, and specialized English language curriculum that is growing immensely popular among many students around the world.
Students who have completed their 10th standard in the CBSE, ICSE or State Board can also pursue IB.
However, the transition is found to be relatively easier from IGCSE to IB.
There are a number of schools around India that provide these curricula including TISB.
Nehal has received offers from prestigious universities such as London School of Economics & Political Sciences, University of Manchester, King's College London, and City University London and Universities in the USA - Babson College (Wellesley, Massachusetts), Bentley University (Waltham, Massachusetts), Indiana University Bloomington (Bloomington, Indiana), Northeastern University (Boston, Massachusetts), Drexel University (Philadelphia) and Hult International Business School (Cambridge, Massachusetts) .
He also received several scholarships from most of them.
Bentley University offered $20,500 annually for 4 years, Indiana University Bloomington offered $8,000 annually for 4 years, Northeastern University offered $10,000 2nd onwards for 4 years, Drexel University offered $15,000 annually for 4 years and Hult International Business School offered �5,725 annually for 4 years.
