Ukhrul ADC opens new public toilet

A new Public Toilet Complex for Gents & Ladies constructed by the administration of Ukhrul ADC has been opened to the public ahead of the upcoming 4th State Level Shirui Lily festival on Tuesday.
Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah inaugurated the newly constructed community-managed sanitary complex in the presence of ADC caretaker chairman Dr Yaronsho Nga-lung, CEO David Kashungnao and EE PHE Ukhrul Themre ishang Marei at Ukhrul ADC office campus in the town.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Muivah noted that toilet is one of the most basic needs of the community and people face severe inconvenience when proper toilet facilities are not available everywhere.
He expressed hope that opening of this new toilet complex would help improve sanitation and cleanliness in the town.
Acknowledging the contribution of the autonomous district council in the devel opment of the district, Muivah said that ADC is a local self-governance and it needs devolution of its power and functions to ensure further growth of the district.
In his speech, Dr Yaronsho Ngalung said that the ADC administration decided to build the new toilet complex considering the acute lack of proper toilet facilities in the township.
"Our town is lacking toilet facilities and in view of the upcoming Shirui Lily festival, we did our best to meet the need for public conveniences during the festival", Dr Ngalung added.
The new complex consists of toilet facilities and a water tank with two floors - the ground floor for the gents and the first floor for the ladies, he said.
He informed that the new facility was constructed under tied grant of the 15 Finance Commissions 2020 -21 .
The inauguration function was attended by a hosts of officers and staffers of different departments under ADC Ukhrul.
