TKWA cleans portion of river at Wangjing-Tentha

Thoubal, April 23 2020:
Drying up of a river which passes through Tentha village from Wangjing, before flowing into Ikop Pat and Kharung Pat has led to the scarcity of potable water in Tentha under Thoubal district.
The villagers, who are hit hard by the Nationwide lockdown, expressed apprehension that they might get infected of different water-borne diseases from consuming the contaminated river water, as there are no other options.
To address their grievances, Tentha Khongbal Welfare Association (TKWA) Tentha Khongbal in association with Yellhou Khongthang Tentha started cleaning a portion of Wangjing- Tentha River since April 19.The drive was concluded today.
And before concluding the drive, nearly 100 youth of Tentha Khongbal also paid homage to those freedom fighters who died fighting for the State against the British.
During the drive, the volunteers also sprayed bleaching powder and disinfectants into the River, so that people who depend on the water body doesn't get infected by other diseases.
Wangjing Tentha AC MLA, Paonam Brojen Singh; Zilla Parishad Member, Khangembam Manishang; Tentha Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Naorem Pradeep Singh, former Art & Culture Minister, Dr Moirangthem Nara Singh; former Youth Affairs & Sports Minister, Moirangthem Hemanta Singh and different Ward Members and locals of Tentha Khongbal provided cash assistance to TKWA in their efforts.
