Ex-MLA Brajabidhu's wife Sumati to contest election

Lamsang Block Congress Committee president Yumkhaibam Kumarjit has announced that Wangkheimayum ongbi Sumati, wife of former Lamsang MLA W Brajabidhu, who recently passed away due to Covid-19, will be contesting in the upcoming election as a Congress nominee.
The announcement was made during a simple programme held at the Lamdeng residence of Sumati on Friday in the presence of representatives of 49 polling stations.
Speaking at the event, Y Kumarjit informed that following the untimely demise of W Brajabidhu, a meeting of Lamsang BCC members was held, wherein it was decided to field the MLA's widow in the upcoming election, as per the wishes of the people.
Informing that the MPCC president will be informed of the decision of Lamsang BCC, he said that all efforts would be made to ensure Sumati's victory in the upcoming election.
Intending candidate W Sumati said that her husband worked tirelessly for the people of Lamsang amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
Confessing that she initially had no plans of joining electoral politics, Sumati said changed her mind to make her late husband's vision for Lamsang a reality.
As such, she appealed to the people of the constituency to extend their support in the upcoming polls.
The programme was attended by Mayanglangjing GP pradhan T Tompok, Imphal West DCC ex-president Ch Nimai and Ima Lai Khurembi Seva Committee president Ch Kameshwar.
