ECI to use 12067 polling personnel

The Election Commission of India will be using as many as 12967 polling personnel in 2357 polling stations set up to be set up across the state in the ensuing General Election to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly which is to be held on January 28. Training for the polling personnel is being carried out.
In order to execute the election smoothly, Imphal East, which has 357 polling stations, needs 1964 personnel while Imphal West needs 2151 personnel for 399 polling stations.
The requirements for other districts are 1078 personnel for 196 polling stations in Bishnupur district, 1986 personnel for 361 polling stations in Thoubal district, 721 personnel for 131 polling stations in Chandel district, 985 personnel for 179 polling stations in Ukhrul district, 1777 personnel for 323 polling stations in Senapati district, 803 personnel for146 polling stations in Tamenglong district and 1502 personnel for 273 polling stations in Churachandpur district.
Training for the polling personnel of Thoubal district began today at Thoubal Mini Secretariat.
As many as 112 presiding officers, 120 No 1 Polling Officers and 119 No 3 Polling Officers failed to attend the training.
Expressing serious concern over the absence of polling personnel in the training, District Election Officer Thoubal in an order demanded explanation for not attending the training.
They should give their explanation to the DEO befor 11 am of January 19.Instructing all the polling officers to attend the rehearsal which is to be held on January 20 and 21, the order also stated that necessary actions will be taken up against those personnel who failed to attend the rehearsal.
Training for polling personnel of Saikul, Kangpokpi and Saitu A/C were also held on January 17 at the ADC Office Complext at Kangpokpi.
Demanding proper explanation for not attending the training, the ADC, Kangpokpi in an order stated that the second round of training will be held on January 19 and 20. Returning Officer Chandel in an order informed all the selected polling personnel of Chandel and Tengnoupal A/Cs to take their appointment orders from their respective offices.
The order further stated that training for the personnel will be held on January 19 at the office of DC Chandel and instructed to attend the training without fail.
Meanwhile, DEO Bishnupur in an order stated that the randomisation of the EVMs to be used in the ensuing election for six A/Cs of Bishnupur district will be done.
The Returning Officer Lamsang in an order informed voters of Sekmai and Lamsang A/Cs who want to vote through post to submit the prescribed form of postal ballot along with appointment letter and xerox copy of EPIC to the office of the RO Lamsang on or before 4 pm of January 21 .
