WDA demands pending NFSA rice

Women's Development Association (WDA), Iram Siphai Leirak has demanded the concerned authority to distribute subsidised rice under National Food Security Act for the pending eight months at the earliest failing which beneficiaries of the scheme would surrender their ration cards .
Addressing a press meet in this regard at Manipur Press Club this evening, WDA convenor M Devala said that repeated appeals were made to the concerned officials to distribute subsidised rice under NFSA for the pending eight months to the beneficiaries of Iram Siphai Awang Leikai Ward No 9, Wangoi Assembly Constituency but the same has not been done so far .
She said that the association had met the Chief Minister on the matter and the latter told them to meet the local MLA to hear their plea .
According to her, when the concerned DC was consulted he told the association that the local MLA has nothing to do with the distribution of NFSA rice.
He also told that he has been approving rice quota for the Ward regularly .
She claimed that a 15-member committee formed under the supervision of the local MLA has been distributing NFSA rice according to their wishes.
