Accident victim's life changes for the better after getting employed at Thangjam Agro

Thouchom Geeta, an individual who lost one of her legs in an accident and has been walking with the help of an artificial limb, conveyed that she is able to send her two children to school after she started working at Thangjam Agro Industries Private Limited.
Moirangthem ningol Thouchom ongbi Geeta (42) keeps herself motivated that she will continue to work hard and do whatever she can in her power so that her sons get proper education and become responsible citizens.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Geeta said that her husband, Thouchom Shyamchand died due to a chronic disease four years ago.
Shyamchand and her were managing their family sufficiently however, following the unfortunate incident, she has been the bread-earner of the family and managing her son's education as well.
At present, her eldest son is in class XII while the youngest is reading in class IX, she added.
Geeta said that she suffered a lot because of the passing of her husband and handling her family at one time, which was in turn worsened by her physical condition.
Misery and deprivation started to engulf the family and they had to spend most of the days starving, she narrated adding that she had to let her children quit school as well.
One Herojit, an employee of Thangjam Agro Industries Pvt Limited introduced her to the company and since then, she has been working in the production sector for almost four years now.
Geeta's face lit up when she told The Sangai Express that after getting the job, she is now able to earn a steady income thereby enabling her children to go for, education.
Meanwhile, Thangjam Agro Industries Private Limited Managing Director Thangjam Joykumar, while speaking to The Sangai Express informed that Thangjam Agro was established as a small business manufacturing fruit squashes juice in 1991 at his residence in Chingmeirong and it was only from 1996 that the business started to improve gradually.
He added that the present condition of the company is a result of the hard work and dedication of all working in the company, which progressed greatly from 2000.From the year 2010-11, the company constructed two Water drinking plant each at Chingmeirong and Nilakuthi which the public is now experiencing its product as Likla drinking water.
The Managing Director said that the sales for packaged drinking water depends on the season adding that the sales is greatest during March, April and July.
He went on to say that Thangjam Agro has also successfully launched its bakery products introducing healthy and tasteful items to its consumers.
Thangjam Joykumar maintained that almost 90 percent of the total employees working in the company are women adding that there are 480 employees in total while 260 are engaged in different branches of the company.
He said that the employees enjoy benefits like EPF, LIC policy for those working in the company for more than ten years, four years maternity leave, 50 percent reimbursement on commuting fare etc.
It can be recalled that Thangjam Agro Industries Private Limited Managing Director Thangjam Joykumar has been awarded with Entrepreneurship Appreciation Award by Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA) in 2010 .
The company also received the All Manipur Art and Culture Sports Development Society award of Best Food Product Award in the same year.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Entrepreneurs Association presented Governor Trophy for Best Entrepreneur Award to him in 2012.He received many other awards apart from these recognitions.
