World Meetei Council (WMC) has warned of imposing a 12-hour Manipur bandh'on February 21 and blockade along Silchar-Aizawl NH, if the Mizoram Government does not take necessary action with regard to the suspicious death of Keisham Prabin (45) and Namram Nipen (49) .
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday, WMC chairman H Nabashyam stated that late K Prabin and N Nipen belonged to Bamrampur, Cachar district, Assam and are brothers-in-law.
K Prabin was an oil tanker driver with N Nipen as his helper/handyman.
Both of them had gone to Aizawl on January 30 .
But on January 31, K Prabin was found brutally murdered at Buichali area which is close to the Mizoram state capital.
Mizoram police arrested N Nipen in connection with the murder on suspicion, but on the eighth day of his judicial remand at Aizawl Jail, it was announced that he had hanged himself, he added.
H Nabashyam continued that there is strong suspicion that both the deaths happened under a conspiracy and it may affect communal harmony.
Suggesting that Mizoram government transfer the case to CBI for proper investigation, he also said that WMC has submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Mizoram chief minister.
The WMC chairman further cautioned that if the Government of Mizoram does not take appropriate action and transfer the case to the CBI by February 20 then they will impose 12-hour Manipur bandh from 6 am to 6 pm the next day along with blockading Silchar-Aizawl NH.
