Strike threatened

The JAC against the death of Huiningsumbam Thoungamba has threatened to call a 72 hour general strike, from 5 am of April 15 to 5 am of April 18, if the State Government fails to take up any positive steps regarding the mysterious death of the student by April 14.A press release issued by the JAC today stated a joint meeting of the JAC, DESAM, Meira Paibis, CSOs was held in connection with the death of H Thoungamba, and passed numerous resolutions.
The meeting vehemently opposed the post mortem report and decided to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister along with the photo and videos of the deceased before the post mortem.
It also demanded the authority concerned to register an FIR regarding the case and also asked why Singjamei PS failed to register any FIR till date.
It further mentioned that the last rites of the deceased boy would not be performed until and unless positive investigations into the case are carried out and added that the JAC, along with the CSOs of the Slate would impose a 72 hour general strike from April 15, if the State Government fails to provide any positive response by April 14 .
