2 hurt in Ukhrul freak incident

In a freak incident in Ukhrul town, two men were grievously injured after they were dragged along by a barb wire that got entangled with a moving truck at Tangrei and Alungtang.
Shangreihao Keishing (75) of Nambashi village and Wungshungmi Kaping (55) of Hunphun village were seriously injured at around 4pm on Saturday after a barb wire that got entangled with a moving truck dragged them along the road.
The incident happened separately at Tangrei and Alungtang in Ukhrul.
Eyewitnesses said the barb wire got entangled on the rear of the truck and swinging dangerously as it veered down the thoroughfares of the town.
Keishing, who was grievously injured at Tangrei, was rushed to Imphal after administering first aid at Ukhrul District Hospital.
Kaping was hurt in the separate incident five minutes later by the same vehicle at Alungtang.
A reliable source said the truck (MN01 8894) got entangled with a barb wire from the fences of Assam Rifles post at Wino Bazaar and was bound for FCI at Meizailung.
Police said the truck belongs to one Ringphami of Shokvao village, Ukhrul and he was also reportedly the driver.
