Saplings planted

As a part of the World Environment Day observation, Central Forest Division distributed around 2000 saplings to the people/ customers thronging Khwairamband Ima Keithel to spread awareness about the importance of planting trees and conserving the environment.
Speaking to media persons, Range Forest Officer E Home explained that World Environment Day has been observed annually ever since 1974 and appealed to the people to use paper made bags and items instead of relying on plastic items/materials.
Even if plastic has to be used, they should be discarded properly, he added and appealed to the people to plant a tree sapling each for the good of the environment.
On the other hand, a mass tree plantation drive was carried out in and around Tabungkhok area under the aegis of Rural Women and Children Welfare Association Tabungkhok, Punsinnaba Women Organisation Changangei and Tabungkhok Welfare Association and led by Patsoi Kendra MLA AK Mirabai.
Rajya Sabha MP as well as BJP State unit president K Bhabananda also led a tree plantation campaign at Phumlou Shiphai area as a part of the World Environment Day observation.
On the other hand, a tree plantation campaign was also carried out inside Manipur Legislative Assembly complex under the leadership of Speaker Y Khemchand.
