Minister Nemcha inspects industrial sites, food park

Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry and Cooperation, Nemcha Kipgen on Thursday inspected the proposed sites for setting up industrial estate in Senapati and Kangpokpi districts after assessing the site of Mega Food Park in Tengnoupal district.
It may be recalled that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 2018 decided to set up industrial estates in each of the 16 districts of Manipur with the financial assistance from Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and NEC.
The industry minister was accompanied by Mahesh Chaudhuri, deputy commissioner of Senapati; Michael Achom, secretary Textiles, Commerce & Industries; Yumnam Robita Devi, director Trade, Commerce & Industries; Peter Salam, managing director of MANIDCO; S Lunguiba Thangal, SDO Senapati; N Sundar Singh, general manager DIC Senapati and Kangpokpi and other line department officials during her inspection tour.
While inspecting the site for the industrial estate at Kotomei village in Senapati district, minister Nemcha said that various development works have been executed by the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister N Biren in the state irrespective of hills and valley.
She continued that many more development works will be taken up under 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas' - PM Modi's redefined motto for a self-reliant India.
Nemcha further said that employment will be generated after the establishment of industrial estate at Katomei in Senapati apart from providing various other benefits for the welfare of the people.
She urged the people of Senapati, particularly Katomei village authority and villagers and its adjoining areas to extend maximum cooperation towards the successful establishment and smooth functioning of the industrial estate in the village.
Managing director of MANIDCO, Peter Salam informed that the site at Katomei was identified by the Directorate of Trade, Commerce & Industries with the assistance of all stakeholders including all district officers.
He continued that after surveying the land, DPR was submitted to the ministry which subsequently approved it.
He added that following the inspection, foundation stone will be laid very soon to enable early construction of the industrial estate so that the people could avail the benefits soon.
Later, minister Nemcha inspected the proposed site for the establishment of another industrial estate at Kangpokpi along with the department officials concerned, DC Kangpokpi Kengoo Zuringla and members of the Kangpokpi Town Committee.
Speaking to media persons, Nemcha Kipgen informed that the main objective of establishing the industrial estate is to generate maximum employment and also to encourage entrepreneurs of the state.
