Imphal, July 04 2012:
Even as street vendors of the three Ima Keithels and non-Manipuris suspended their normal duty to press the demand for re-implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Manipur, protest demonstrations were witnessed at 12 different places today over the same demand.
After staging a sit-in-protest at their respective plots, the street vendors of the three Ima Keithels took out a rally.
They were, however, stopped by police as they reached the end part of BT fly over-bridge towards Kangla gate side.
The protestors used banners and festoons and shouted slogans like "Save Manipur", "Re-implement Inner Line Permit" .

In another sit-in-protest staged at Sadokpam Leikai Community hall, Kakchingtabam Birahari, Advisor of FREINDS stated that the present situation in Manipur is such that if the influx of migrants never ceases, indigenous people would reduce to minority in their own homeland.
So, considering the impending crisis, if the present generation does not ensure re-implementation ILP in the state the future generation would surely spit on us.
To avoid present generation from being cursed by future generation, one of the advisors of FREINDS has decided to carry out fast unto death agitation from July 6 until ILP is re-implemented in the state.
The fate of indigenous people of Manipur and that of the life of the advisor of FREINDS now lies in the hands of Manipur State Assembly session, Birahari added.
Similar sit-in-protests to press the demand for re-implementation of ILP were also staged at Masjid road by non-Manipuri shop keepers; members of Young Society Cultural Union at Waheng Leikai; Keishamthong Mathel Meipuinam at Keishamthong Community hall; Young Development Organisation at Heirangoithong; Sorokhaibam Leikai Apunba Meira Paibi Lup at the hall of Sorokhaibam Leikai Youth Development Association; Emoinu Maira Paibi Lup at Yaiskul Police Lane; Kangla Ima Lup at Uripok Khaidem Laikai; Women Welfare Association, Youth Cultural and Welfare Association and Heinoubok Tent Farming Co-operative Society Limited jointly organized the protest at Heinoubok Meira Shanglen and Sangaiprou Kabui Khul Meira Paibi at Sadokpam Leikai Community hall.
