Association expresses gratitude to Govt

Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association Imphal has expressed gratitude to the State Government for increasing the monthly pay for Manipur home guards to Rs 18,689.Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, president of the association Y Mangi said that Manipur home guards have been demanding the State Government to implement the Supreme Court's judgement to pay duty allowance of home guards equivalent to the minimum pay of the State police, for five years.
Following the directive of Manipur High Court regarding the pay hike for home guard within eight weeks and the instructions given by the Prime Minister's office and Ministry of Home Affairs, the State Government issued the order granting pay hike on February 29 this year, informed Mangi.
The Association expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister N Biren and his council of Ministers for fulfilling its prolonged demands while lauding the officers of Home Department and all the officials concerned who put their effort in achieving the demand.
