Imphal, October 03 2016:
The Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK) has rubbished the allegations charged against the union by Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) .
SUK in a statement issued by its publicity secretary SP Ningthouja said the allegations charged against the union by MSF is nothing but an attempt to cover their own wrong doings.
Jangailung Phaomei has held the post of vice-presi-dent of SUK Lamlong Higher Secondary unit since its formation.
However, in the recently held higher secondary election, Jangailung contested as an MSF candidate for the post of general secretary.
Jangailung was summoned to SUK office in September 28 as per the law of the union.
Jangailung, at that meeting, confessed that he was bribed with a mobile phone and some cash by MSF into joining their union.
He also showed the SUK volunteers the mobile phone that was presented to him by MSF, it said.
SUK did not assault Jangailung nor threatened him to withdraw his nominations and return back to his native land.
He came to the SUK office on his own after he was informed by the SUK through phone.
The statement also rubbished MSF's claim that it tried calling the SUK president the same day regarding the matter.
Assaulting students is not acceptable according to the principle of SUK.
Jangailung expressed fear that the MSF would take up actions against him for meeting SUK members so few of the volunteers
dropped him at his house after the meeting that day, it said.
On September 29, during the election scrutiny of Lamlong Higher Secondary School, some 20 people who identified themselves as MSF volunteers forcibly took SUK Imphal East organising secretary and SUK Khundrakpam unit president to MSF office where they were brutally assaulted.
They were also forced to sign on a blank A4 sized paper, it alleged.
The union rubbished MSF's claim that the SUK president did got give MSF a chance for a dialogue concerning the matter.
It said SUK president and MSF president had a brief conversation over phone regarding the matter.
A meeting was also scheduled but it had to be cancelled as the Joint Students' Co-ordinating Committee informed that it could not attend the meeting.
MSF also took eight of SUK Model Higher Secondary School unit volunteers into its custody where they were assaulted and forced to sign membership admission forms, it said.
It was a cheap move on the part of MSF to bribe a member of other union into joining them.
The union further condemned MSF's alleged attempt to give a communal colour to the issue.
It said that the union always maintained a healthy relationship with all communities.
On September 2, MSF advisor called up SUK president and arranged a meeting to resolve the tussle.
MSF, sadly, did not turn up for the meeting, it said.
SUK in the statement further expressed hope that the unions could clear all the mis-understandings and move on.
