Imphal, December 02, 2014:
MLA RK Anand today said the All Political Party ILP Committee (APPLIPC) is all set to submit a draft report to the state Government on December 10. The draft report is likely to propose the Manipur Government to implement either the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 or enact a similar law in the coming winter session of the state assembly to protect the indigenous people, an informed source said.
Meanwhile, APPLIPC met at its office in the Manipur Legislative Assembly complex where preparation of the proposed draft was started, according to Committee convenor MLA RK Anand.
He said the draft report has suggestions and opinions of legal experts, MPs, academicians from Manipur University and several colleges, senior politicians and the Labour Department.
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) had spearheaded a series of agitations demanding implementation of ILP in the state in recent times, but the committee withdrew its ILP movement after Chief Minister Okram Ibobi promised it to introduce a suitable law in the coming state assembly session to protect the indigenous people.
