Dissatisfied over the continued negligence of Jiri College by the State Government and the provision of only the pre-revised Higher Secondary scale to its teachers, Jiri College Employees' Association has urged the concerned authority to fulfil its demands for granting UGC scale to the teachers.
If the State Government fulfils its demands by August 10, the Association would launch severe forms of democratic agitations from August 11, warned N.Robindra Singh, Asst.

of the Association at a press meet held at Jiri College here today.
Out of the 12 Aided Colleges of Manipur, Jiri College is in the 7th position and lone college in the whole Jiribam sub-division of Imphal East District.
However, with exception to Jiri College, the State Government has allowed teachers of all other aided colleges of Manipur to enjoy pay scale entitled to degree colleges, Robindra pointed out, while adding '5 aided colleges which got affiliation after the Jiri College have been provided pay scales of a degree college' .
Even if it was due to absence of a regular principal and lack of permanent affiliation, Jiri College had its regular principal from 29 December in 2008 and permanent affiliation was also obtained on 20 April, 2009, he informed and added that in January 2010, Jiri College also got recognition of UGC under its 12 & 12 (B) Act.

Even though, the regular principal had requested the Education Minister and the Director of Education (U) for availing UGC pay scale by submitting relevant documents, it has not been materialised till date, Robindra stated.
Recalling that Jiri College Employees' Association, Jiribam had also submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister on November 23 in 2012, Robindra warned that the Employees' Association of the College would launch intense agitations from August 11, if its demands were not conceded by August 10 .
